Application Development Fundamentals

Build Custom Applications in ServiceNow

Summary

In this hands-on course, students will use the ServiceNow application development process to develop an award-winning Loaner Equipment application. This course uses a sprint-based development approach to develop and implement features resulting in "shippable product" at the end of each content section.

The labs model application development best practices and guide students through designing, building, testing, and implementing an application built on the ServiceNow platform. Students apply the skills developed in class by implementing a second application during class based on a statement of work (SOW) and a test plan:

  • Design an application table: to extend or not to extend?
  • Create and implement forms and views for a positive user experience
  • Manage application business logic with scripts
  • Consider mobile users in application design
  • Control access to the application and its records
  • Send notifications to stakeholders and collaborators
  • Use flow designer to automate applications
  • Integrate to ServiceNow and to public web services
  • Use the Service Catalog to provide access to applications
  • Capture application metrics with reports and homepages
  • Use the Application Repository to install/uninstall applications
